Thanksgiving season is incomplete without Turkey dishes, as turkey is an integral part of our Thanksgiving celebrations. Let’s try this roasted turkey for this Thanksgiving Day and enjoy the turkey to it’s fullest of taste and satisfaction.

Ingredients

5.5 kg/12 Ib turkey, rinsed and patted dry

½ tsp salt

1 onion, chopped

2 tbsp low-sodium soy sauce, or naturally fermented shoyu

1 tsp paprika

1 tbsp virgin olive oil

12.5 cl/4 fl oz single cream

2 tsp chopped fresh tarragon

¼ tsp freshly ground black pepper

1 tbsp corn flour, mixed with 2 tbsp water

Preparation and Method

Rub the cavity of the turkey with ¼ teaspoon of the salt and put the chopped onion inside. Tie the legs together and tuck the wing tips under the bird. Cover the wings and ends of the drumsticks with small bits of foil.

Combine the soy sauce, paprika and oil in a small bowl. Brush the underside of the turkey with about half of the mixture. Put the turkey in an oven-cooking bag. Draw the bag closed, leaving a small opening for the steam to escape. Secure the bag with a plastic strip or elastic band, not a metal twit tie. Place the turkey breast side down in a large rectangular dish and microwave it on high for 15 minutes more before removing it from the oven.

Pour the accumulated juices from the bag into a saucepan and set it aside., the juices will form the base for the sauce. Remove the foil from the wings and drumsticks. Turn the turkey breast side up and brush the wings and breast with the remaining soy sauce mixture.

Close the bag loosely once more and microwave the turkey on high for minutes. Rotate the dish half a turn and cook on high for a final 15 Minutes.

Remove the bird from the oven. Pour the additional roasting juices into saucepan with the reserved juices. Let the turkey stand for

Minutes, then test for doneness by piercing a thigh with the tip of a sharp knife, the juices should run clear. If they do not, microwave the bird on high for 5 to 10 minutes more.

During the standing time, prepare the sauce Spoon as much fat as possible from the surface of the reserved roasting juices, there should be about ½ litre. Bring the liquid to the boil on the stove-top and cook rapidly for 5 to 10 minutes. Add the tarragon cream., the remaining salt and some pepper. Return the liquid to the boil. Whisk the corn flour mixture into the sauce and cook until the sauce boils and thickens slightly, about 1 minute. Pour the sauce into a sauceboat, carve the turkey and serve.

If you love to get together with friends and family during the holidays you may be looking for some traditions that you can start

If you love to get together with friends and family during the holidays you may be looking for some traditions that you can start. Every year is another year that everyone is older, and sometimes those who were with you last year may not be there with you this year. So in order to make every holiday different you need to create holiday traditions using recipes for your family. Here are some ways that you can do that.

If your family gathers around the table for Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner have everyone make a dish that was their favorite when they were a child to bring. Have them write the recipe down on a recipe card so you can exchange recipes. Everyone must think of at least one dish that they loved when they were little and they don’t mind sharing. The next time you go to the store you need to pick up an empty recipe box that you can put the new recipes in so you can keep them.

If you get together for birthday then have everyone bring their favorite dessert dish along with a recipe of what they made to share with everyone. This is the perfect way to get a wide variety of desserts for the party and it doesn’t cost you anything but a little bit of time calling around. You will end up celebrating someone’s birthday with some great tasting treats.

If you get together with your friends on occasion you may want to hold a cookie exchange. Everyone will make their favorite cookies and bring the recipe to share with everyone. Take turns holding your cookie exchange in everyone’s home and enjoy the great taste of different cookies. If you have extra cookies left over you may want to bag them up and share them with a neighbor down the street or someone you know would love to be a part of your cookie exchange and invite them to your next meeting.

If you have boxes of recipes for your family and you want to make holiday gifts this year instead of buying something then make a recipe scrapbook of recipes that you remember your grandmother fixing when you came over as a little girl or a cake that your mom would decorate red, white, and blue during Independence Day celebrations. Once you have glued the recipes on the pages look for pictures that you may have of everyone eating the food that was prepared using that recipe and glue it onto the scrapbook as well. Decorate the outside of your scrap book with kitchen wallpaper or other
